MOT Testing in Cheltenham
Why do I need a MOT?
A legal requirement for car owners if their vehicle is older than three years, an MOT is an annual test to ensure that it is roadworthy according to a set criteria by the DVSA to keep you and others safe. Featuring inspections on elements such as brakes, tyres, wheels, emissions and seatbelts, it is a comprehensive and thorough check which must meet the standard at a dedicated MOT test centre carried out by a DVSA-approved examiner. Valid for 12 months, your MOT must be renewed before the expiry date therefore it’s important to set a reminder so that you aren’t breaking the law. This can be done up to 28 days before the expiry date which will essentially mean it’s valid for a further 13 months.
If there are some discrepancies during the MOT then these must be seen to as soon as possible so that your vehicle can pass all the checks and be on the road again in no time. As well as an MOT being a legal requirement, it’s also designed to make sure that your vehicle is in good working order to prevent any future breakdowns and address any wear and tear issues. Finally, in the event of an incident some insurance policies may ask for a valid MOT certificate to determine your coverage, therefore always important to have it up to date.
